Airdrie Public Library celebrates national Freedom to Read Week

“We feel with the lull in activity in the last few years, we need to revitalize arts in Airdrie and rebuild allies and local leadership.”  

Local country duo Flaysher performs showcase concert on Feb. 26 while roots/folk musician Kyle McKearney will take the stage on Feb. 24, at Calgary's King Eddy venue.

Nowak, 65, passed away on the morning of Feb. 5 at the Peter Lougheed Centre, after battling an infection that emerged after passing a kidney stone in January.

Bert Church High School’s Student Union Club – a student-focused extra-curricular program geared toward building connections within the school and community – raised 1,300 pounds of clothing and soft goods during its clothing drive this month in partnership with Value Village.

Beckie is a 2020 graduate of St. Martin de Porres High School, and also received a $100,000 Schulich Leaders Award in her final year of high school.

Bert Church LIVE Theatre (BCLT) is partnering with a Calgary-based theatre company to bring Airdrie audiences a winter-themed performance about kindness and community on Feb. 26.

“I was just really excited overall to see that a piece I did on a frog was the one they chose,” the 17-year-old artist said.
