The Miss Philippines-Canada Queen Pride Pageant took place at the New Horizon Mall in Balzac on Feb. 26 and 27. Candidates from across the country competed for the crown, including one contestant from Airdrie.

“You could see when these women come in that they're carrying a really heavy load and then when they’re met with Ollie you see them forget that for even just a moment and they just enjoy the pure joy and excitement to life that he brought in that moment,” said Crystal Boys, P.O.W.E.R. 's president.

The Quinn’s Legacy Run Society – an organization in Airdrie that advocated in support of bereaved parents and lobbied on their behalf to the federal government – dissolved one year ago, when the COVID-19 pandemic made in-person gatherings increasingly difficult.

Though public health restrictions have since been lifted, Elgie said the decision to call off the camp-out was made well beforehand.
