St. Veronica School holds dedication ceremony

Airdrie's newest school – St. Veronica School – held its blessing and dedication ceremony Nov. 29.

The ceremony dedicated the school, which operates under the Calgary Catholic School District, to the patron saint, St. Veronica.

The school blessing portion of the event included several components – a gathering hymn, a cross-bearing procession, a reading of the Word of God and a homily from Father Julian Studden.

Following the blessing, the dedication ceremony took place, including student singing performances, greetings from school board trustee Linda Wellman and Airdrie-East MLA Angela Pitt and Mayor Peter Brown.

St. Veronica School opened in September. The school offers classes from kindergarten to Grade 6, with plans to expand to offer Grade 7 next year. There are more than 350 students at the school, which has a capacity of more than 700 students.
