John Grisham’s The Judge’s List led the way with most borrows in 2022.

January is the time of year when the top 10 lists for everything and anything start making the rounds.

You likely already saw many of them on your social media feeds over the holidays; a fresh year just seems to beg for reflection on the year that just passed.

For instance, what were the top 10 strangest things stolen in Canada?

Yes, there is such a list, and it includes a green tree python, an iconic photo of Sir Winston Churchill, and a life-sized cut out of a police officer.

But, here at Airdrie Public Library, we encourage patrons to take, or rather, borrow items from our collection.

Without further ado, here are the top books our patrons borrowed in 2022.

The top circulating adult fiction among our patrons was The Judge’s List by John Grisham, which was borrowed 117 times.

Second place was The Recovery Agent by Janet Evanovich, followed closely by The Madness of Crowds by Louise Penny with 109, The last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave with 108, and Better Off Dead by Lee Child with 105.

The adult non-fiction list was led by Indian in the Cabinet by Jody Wilson-Raybould with 82 borrows, followed by The Prairie Garden with 45, Atlas of the Heart by Brene Brown with 43, and What Happened to You? By Bruce. D. Perry and the Scot 2021 Standard Postage Stamp Catalogue both with 34.

(By the way, the Scot stamp catalogue makes the list every year in Airdrie).

The Duckling Gets a Cookie and The Pigeon Has to Go to School, both by Mo Willems, led the children’s titles with 151 borrows each.

These were followed by Mother Heights by Dav Pilkey with 148, The Pigeons Finds a Hot Dog by Mo Willems with 146, and Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay up by Mo Willems with 138.
