With the high cost of virtually everything these days, it’s understandable that some of Airdrie Public Library’s (APL) patrons may be looking for ways to save a few bucks.

Your free library card is one of those ways, especially when it comes to our eResources and your DIY projects.

One of those eResources is called Creativebug, which is provided through the Marigold Library System and is available through your library card.

Creativebug is a useful online resource that provides arts and crafts instructional videos on demand. Find it under the APL website eResources tab, log in with your library card number, create an account, and voila, you have access to videos on drawing, painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, baking, projects for children, and a whole lot more.

Each video includes an in-depth description, material list, transcript, and community discussion section. Experts teach all classes, and new classes are added daily.

Instructors include an impressive list of artists and creative experts, including 100LayerCake, Anna Hultin of OlanderCO Embroidery, Brandon Mably of FreeSpirit Fabrics, Cleo Papanikolas of Discover Cleo Fashion, and hundreds more.

Patrons have access to a massive pattern library, and collections covering everything from sewing classes to art camps for kids.

You can access Creativebug TV episodes featuring prominent artists and crafts persons and also a blog filled with current info on upcoming videos, classes, contests, and special announcements on seasonal project ideas.

Another great DIY eResource is Auto Repair Source. Free with your library card, it provides the most accurate, authoritative, and up-to-date service and repair information for thousands of domestic and imported vehicles.

All content comes from the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and includes step-by-step repair information, diagrams, maintenance schedules, parts and labour estimates, service bulletins and recalls. You simply type in the make and year of your auto and you’re off.
