Airdrie Public Library's' new eResource Creativebug will get you crafting in no time.

The recent snow storm is over, the sun is shining, and spring is upon us once again. It’s that time of the year to begin some of those arts and crafts projects you been itching to do.

Here at Airdrie Public Library (APL), we believe in making learning new skills as uncomplicated as possible.

A new addition to our eResources web page is something called Creativebug, which is provided through the Marigold Library System and is available through your APL card.

Creativebug is an online digital resource that provides arts-and-crafts instructional videos on demand.

Find it under the APL website eResources tab, log in with your library card number, create an account, and voila, you'll have access to videos on drawing, painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, baking, projects for children, and a whole lot more.

Each video includes an in-depth description, material list, transcript, and community discussion section. Experts teach all classes, with new classes added daily.

Instructors include an impressive list of artists and creative experts, including 100LayerCake, Anna Hultin of OlanderCO Embroidery, Brandon Mably of FreeSpirit Fabrics, Cleo Papanikolas of Discover Cleo Fashion, and hundreds more.

A statement on the Creativebug website has this to say: "We’re more than a crafting website, we’re volunteers, activists, and teachers who think the arts deserve to be shared with everyone."

We couldn’t agree more, and with your library card, you'll have access to a massive pattern library, and collections covering everything from sewing classes to art camps for kids.

You can also access Creativebug TV episodes, which feature prominent artists and craftspeople who provide step-by-step instructions on a huge variety of projects.

There’s also a blog filled with current info on upcoming videos, classes, contests, and special announcements on seasonal project ideas.

If you’re the artistic or crafty type, this online resource might just make your day.
