Library Link: Springtime at the library

There's plenty of programming in store at the Airdrie Public Library this month.

Library programs are taking a two-week break in preparation for a robust spring session.

Airdrie Public Library (APL) programs will take a two-week break from April 18 to May 1 as we prepare for a very robust spring program.

Yes, spring – that glorious time of the year when our hearts are filled with expectation and anticipation of all things new.

Of course, here at APL, that means while the programs are on hiatus for a little bit, you can be assured that our programmers are busy sprouting new and exciting literacy engagements.

But first, let me remind our patrons of a few spring break programs still waiting to hatch.

Spring Break Crafting Crew is for ages six to 13 and runs April 19 to 22 from 3 to 4 p.m. at the library. This program offers a themed activity designed to guide your child through basic craft making, but it's important to register online beforehand to secure a spot.

Minecraft: Choose Your Own Adventure is exclusively on the APL website and runs from April 18 to 22. The library will have its own Minecraft realm and participants will have the chance to decide where their story goes, and avoiding any dangers that may appear in the game.

Spring Break Pictionary, for teens only, is on April 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. This will involve teaming up with other participants to use the large purple chalk wall in the Program Room to play this popular and fun game.

Registration for our robust spring session begins Wednesday, April 20.

Also, keep an eye out for the return of Harry Potter Day, children and adult author readings, the fourth annual Poetry in Motion contest, the High School Art Gala, an Indigenous Drum Circle, Wizards in the Library, and the much-anticipated return of Paws, Feathers, and Scales.

There’s a lot more happening at your library, but we’ll get to that in a future column.

Finally, a reminder the library is closed Friday, April 15, Sunday, April 17, and Monday April 18 for Easter.
