Homenum Revelio!

Airdrie Public Library's (APL) annual Harry Potter Day is taking place this Saturday, April 10, with the magic beginning at 10 a.m.

Normally, APL patrons would be able to drop by our facility in person for a day filled with magical adventures in crafts, activities, games, food, and wizardry inspired by the Harry Potter books. But like other community events have done to keep people healthy and safe during this pandemic, Harry’s big day at APL is going virtual this year.

The popularity of J.K Rowling’s young hero endures, providing millions of readers of all ages the opportunity to escape into a world of fantastical beasts, wizards, and spell-casting suspense.

In the past, countless fans across the world celebrated Harry Potter and his adventures with book nights, costumed parties and daytime events, often offering a mix of games, readings, and plenty of magical fun.

So, while things may look different this year, they’ll still be magical.

On Saturday morning, check out videos on our website and learn how to make potions, dragon eggs, butterbeer, and many more Potter-themed crafts and activities. Take-and-make packages are available for the first 50 registered patrons.

No matter your age, dress up as your favourite character, make sure to feed Hedwig, and take a selfie or family photo of your costume efforts so we can post it to our Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Most of all, have fun celebrating the adventure and childhood wonder of the amazing world found within the pages of the Harry Potter series.

But Harry Potter Day isn't the only thing happening at APL this month; watch for our 'Starting a Small Business' workshop with Nav Basi, a small business advisor with Scotiabank. This info session will be about how to get your small business off the ground by developing a vision, a business plan and how to raise start-up funds.
