Mighty Machines returns to the Airdrie library's parking lot this fall.

As fall races towards us with its usual ferocity, programmers at Airdrie Public Library (APL) are on a break as we get ready to meet the upcoming rush head on.

As library memberships and attendances have grown, we’ve added more programs and times to all age categories this fall.

For the preschoolers, we’ve added times to the very popular drop-in Rhymes and Songs, Creative Hands & Minds, Toddlertime, and Babytime. Wiggle Wednesday, Travelling Tales and Tunes, and Infant Massage are also back.

Once classes resume, After School @ APL returns with Mythic Quest, an introduction to D&D, Full STEAM Ahead, Tween Zone, and something we’re excited about called The Mindful Artist.

The Mindful Artist is for ages six to 13, and is designed to help this age group embrace their natural creative side by focusing on inspiration while creating works of art.

The LEGO Club and Listening Tales with therapy dogs also return next month. We also have a string of events in store, beginning with the Poetry in Motion Open Mic night. This event celebrates the winners and shortlists of the fourth annual Poetry in Motion contest, which is held in partnership with the City of Airdrie.

Mighty Machines roars back into the parking lot with more amazing machinery on display for attendees to learn about.

As always, the Voice and Vision Gala returns, featuring collaboration between 15 artists and 15 writers.

Once September is in the books, we're holding our first Newcomers Fair in partnership with Welcoming Airdrie in October. The event features different organization, groups, and services that work with newcomers to Airdrie of all kinds.

Also in October, we’re hosting Ghostbusters Wanted in partnership with the Calgary Ghostbusters club. Look for the Ghostbuster car, Slimer, Stay Puft and loads of spooky fun at that event.

Once we're into the spooky season, Pumpkin Palooza returns to celebrate Halloween with games, crafts, and a themed storytime.

We’re also squeezing in an author reading by Mansoor Ladha, and a presentation on Airdrie's history from the Nose Creek Valley Museum.

Teens have Pirates at APL, Teen Gaming, Teen Movie Night and much more to look forward to.
