The TD Summer Reading Club returns for more literacy-based play and learning. This summer’s theme is Game On and is for kids in Kindergarten to Grade 7.

There are two ways to participate. Registered participants, who sign up for weekly themed-activities over Zoom, and Reading Log participants, who don’t need to register, but can stop by the library to pick up a reading log to track hours for a chance to win some very cool prizes.

APL also has a wide range of preschool literacy programs.

Creative Hands and Minds, Babytime, and Family Storytime are all Zoom events, but we also have our pre-recorded Sing, Read, Rhyme, Bedtime Storytime, Creative Hands and Minds, and Babytime weekly videos that you can watch at your convenience.

Virtual Travelling Tales and Tunes returns along with in-person Summer Stories in the Park.

Summer Stories will be held in Chinook Winds Regional Park and Nose Creek Regional Park this summer, and will feature songs, stories, and rhymes. It will be conducted virtually in the event of bad weather.

Summer Story Walk is back at Nose Creek Regional Park and Chinook Winds Regional Park and offers a walking literacy journey for the entire family.

New this summer, the Book Bike is a bike-powered pop-up library you’ll find at the Airdrie Farmer’s Market and other such events.

For older youth clientele, teens can enjoy Take and Make, our Teen Advisory Council and two new programs – Drones in the Library and Caching Out!

Adults also have several new programs to enjoy this summer – iPads for Loan (supported by the Alberta Government and North Rocky View Community Links), iPad Instructionals, iPad Help, and The Spice of Life, which is a kit that includes a select spice from around the world, information on its history and traditional uses, and a recipe featuring the spice you can make on your own.

The popular puzzle-solving Makerspace Mystery returns, along with Makerspace Mentoring. For more information on all APL programs and to register, visit www.aidriepubliclibrary.ca
