Airdrie Public Library has plenty of programming to offer patrons this fall.
As the first part of Airdrie Public Library’s (APL) fall 2021 session wraps up this week, and programmers take a break to get ready for part two, we’d like to point out a few upcoming programs.

Coming Saturday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., we encourage readers to join us for a virtual Pumpkin Palooza event. Designed for children ages two to six, sign up online and pick up a themed activity kit and Zoom information from the library.

Costumes are encouraged, which, of course, makes for a much more spook-tacular time.

Here are a few highlights from the second part of our fall programming. Please note, registration for these programs starts Monday, Oct. 18.

APL’s second Writer in Residence program is featuring well-known Calgary author Simon Rose, who was part of our Author Series last fall.

Known for his science fiction and fantasy novels for children and young adults, and several writing guides for both aspiring and established authors, Rose will present four workshops and one-on-one blue-pencil editing sessions.

Wednesday, Nov. 17 will see a virtual presentation with children’s author Marty Chan, geared for youth ages five to seven years old. Chan is well known for combining storytelling, humour, writing games, and stage magic into his presentations.

New to APL is Pages of Pride, a book club focusing on LGBTQ2S+ books. For ages 16 and over, the club will meet once a month and feature a different book with a discussion around characters, themes, and plots.

Celebrate Minecraft’s 10th anniversary on Nov. 20 by joining our private realm to do themed building challenges. This fun and educational program is geared toward participants ages eight to 12, and will offer different sessions throughout the day, so register early to book your timed session.

Also, watch for a series of four videos on cyber security from our digital literacy programmer.

Of course, there is much more coming in fall part two for all ages, so stay tuned.
