Canadian tenor to grace stage at Bert Church LIVE Theatre on Saturday

“If the winter doldrums are starting to set in, this is a great reason to come on our and enjoy our community’s beautiful Bert Church Theatre.”

Airdronians will get the chance to see some royal entertainment on Feb. 4, with Ken Lavigne’s ‘3 Nights with a Tenor’ at Bert Church LIVE Theatre (BCLT).

The Canadian musician will be performing some sterling British ballads for audience members, including the musical hits of three knighted musicians – Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Paul McCartney, and Sir Elton John.

According to the musician’s website, Lavigne has stolen the hearts of plenty of concert-goers across North America with his “captivating blend” of classical tenor sound and contemporary style.

“He takes his audience on riveting and exciting adventures with spectacular songs and hilarious stories from his personal experiences,” read the website.

Beverly Stadelmann, performing arts coordinator at BCLT, said Lavigne is a classically trained tenor who blends his style seamlessly with modern music. In 2004, Lavigne was a founding member of The Canadian Tenors, and in 2006, he co-founded the successful tenor trio ROMANZA.

In 2007, he shifted his focus to independently producing solo performances and CD recordings.

“Lavigne has a long and impressive list of solo concerts and engagements with symphony performances presenting popular songs and traditional tenor arias,” read the website.

In 2009, Lavigne made his New York debut on Jan. 22 at Carnegie Hall, where he was accompanied by the New York Pops Orchestra.

“He takes his audience on riveting and exciting adventures with spectacular songs and hilarious stories from his personal experiences,” Stadelmann said.

Saturday's two-hour performance will showcase the artist’s ability to captivate musical fans of all ages, she added.

“’3 Knights with a Tenor,’ an admittedly cheeky title, features the music of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Paul McCartney, and Sir Elton John,” she said. “If the names of those Knights appear on your playlists and record collections, then this is the show for you.”

The City employee stated Lavigne was selected as part of BCLT'S 2022-23 line-up as they wanted a fun show that would offer great music to help Airdrie residents venture forth from their homes on a chilly winter day.

“This show features music created by some of the industry’s legends of songwriting, and Ken Lavigne’s incredible voice to top it off,” she said.

“If the winter doldrums are starting to set in, this is a great reason to come on our and enjoy our community’s beautiful Bert Church Theatre.”
