Airdrie RCMP lay charges in single-vehicle collision

Airdrie RCMP issued a press release on July 28 indicating RCMP officers responded to a single-vehicle collision in the Stonegate neighbourhood on Wednesday evening, at 9:55 p.m. on July 27.

Police first received a report indicating a silver Dodge truck struck a light pole, while a second report received stated the truck struck a nearby residential garage within the Stonegate neighbourhood. 

"Police attended the residence and identified the driver and lone vehicle occupant as an Airdrie resident," the press release stated. "The male was taken into custody and is facing a number of provincial charges including fail to remain at the scene of a collision, driving while unauthorized and operating a motor vehicle with expired registration."

According to the press release, alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the collision. The driver of the vehicle has been seized for 30 days and a has been issued a suspension under the Alberta Immediate Roadside Sanction Program.
