Air Tour event postponed in Airdrie until Aug. 28

As a result of conditioned adverse weather conditions, the Alberta Air Tour event scheduled in Airdrie for today has been postponed until Aug. 28.

As a result of adverse weather conditions, the Alberta Air Tour event scheduled in Airdrie for Aug. 7 has been postponed until Aug. 28.

"Unfortunately, due to very high smoke density, the Airdrie Air Tour is being rescheduled to Aug 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.," reads a Facebook post from Airdrie-East MLA Angela Pitt, who was one of the organizers who helped bring the event to fruition.

"We were really hoping to catch a break with the conditions, but they unfortunately are only getting worse. Thank you you everyone for your interest and understanding."

The fourth and final leg of the tour was slated to be held at the Airdrie Air Park, just east of city limits off of Township Road 270. The event would have seen up to 40 Alberta pilots land their small-engine air craft at the local venue, and stick around to show off their planes and chat with attendees about the aviation industry.
