From living in a Toyota in Los Angeles, a new musical talent has travelled a long road to arrive at Redwood Meadows as the chosen location for his debut album release party.

The mother black bear that was shot and killed in Bragg Creek at the end of August left behind three cubs who are now answering the call of the wild on their own, without the benefit of their most important survival lesson – how to build a den.

A group of Bragg Creekers is hoping to start a brand new musical tradition with the launch of the first music festival in the hamlet, featuring a broad cross-section of genres aimed at offering something for everyone.

“Three black bears have died here in the last six weeks, all of them because of human interaction,” Klepacki said. “That’s on us.”

Three generations of the family Bragg Creek is named after gathered last Saturday for a tree-planting commemoration in their honour.

"They were hanging around on the opposite side of the road as their mother, who was unfortunately dead in the ditch. They were calling for her and it was quite heartbreaking to see."
