Turner Valley RCMP investigate attempted theft of vehicle with child inside

RCMP investigating after attempted vehicle theft near Southern Alberta school with child inside. Officers believe suspect was not trying to abduct the child.

TURNER VALLEY, Alta — RCMP from Turner Valley, southwest of Calgary, is investigating the attempted theft of a vehicle which had a child inside. 

According to a press release, at approximately 8:30 a.m. Friday, an unknown male attempted to gain access to a vehicle that was parked adjacent to the Turner Valley School. 

There was a child sitting in the parked vehicle at the time, however police don't believe this was an attempt to abduct the child. 

The male was last seen walking down the lane-way near the United Church in Turner Valley.

The male suspect is described as approximately 40, slim build with an estimated weight of 130 lbs with long blonde hair and a darker complexion. 

He was wearing a green, long sleeve shirt and black pants with polka dots, according to RCMP. 

The RCMP investigation into the matter is ongoing. Police are asking residents in the area to check possible surveillance footage. This is a reminder to all members of the public to remain vigilant and keep your doors locked when leaving a vehicle unattended.
