St. Albert RCMP Drug Unit seize drugs, cash, and a car in bust

The bust was the result of an investigation into methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking in the summer of 2022 by the St. Albert RCMP Drug Unit and ALERT Edmonton.

Over $50,000 worth of methamphetamine was found by the St. Albert Drug Unit in an Edmonton residence drug bust.

On Oct. 20, 2022, police arrested Yogesh Boojhawon, 32, of Edmonton after finding drugs, cash, and an expensive car at an Edmonton residence.

The St. Albert RCMP Drug Unit along with St. Albert Crime Reduction Unit and the St. Albert General Investigation Section executed the search warrant and seized 833.59 grams methamphetamine with an approximate street value of $50,640; 82.42 grams fentanyl with an approximate street value of $16,400; 114.89 grams cocaine with an approximate street value of $11,500; 46.83 grams buffing agent; 250ml suspected gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB); one tablet morphine sulphate; $12,570 Canadian currency; and, a 2015 Lexus IS250.

Boojhawon, was charged with four counts of trafficking methamphetamine, two counts of trafficking fentanyl, four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, six counts possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of illegal cigarettes under the Tobacco Tax Act.

The arrest was the result of an investigation into methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking in the summer of 2022 by the St. Albert RCMP Drug Unit and ALERT Edmonton.

Boojhawon has been released from custody and will appear in Edmonton Provincial Court on December 6, 2022.
