Alan Connor, from Elk Point, bought his $5 million winning lottery ticket at the Petro Canada in St. Paul in January.

ST. PAUL - An Elk Point man is $5 million richer after a huge lottery win. The winning  LOTTO 6/49 ticket was purchased in St. Paul.

"Alan Connor thought something was wrong with his retailer’s ticket checker after he scanned his ticket for the Jan. 11 LOTTO 6/49 draw," reads a media release posted on the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) website.

“All these numbers came up on the screen,” said Connor, in the media release. “I thought it was some kind of code.”

The retailer confirmed that the number was his prize amount, but he still didn't believe it.

“I thought I won $50,000. But the clerk said, ‘No, you won $5 million.’”

While he is still in shock about his multimillion dollar win, he does have a few ideas about what to do with his windfall, according to the release.

“I am going to pay off bills and my mortgage for sure,” he said. “I also would like to travel to Eastern Europe and buy a new car.”

The LOTTO 6/49 ticket was purchased at Petro Canada, in St. Paul.

Connor's ticket matched all six numbers to win the LOTTO 6/49 jackpot. His winning numbers were 2, 3, 7, 18, 24, and 26. He said that he has been playing those numbers for 20 years, according to the release.
