Police investigate suspicious death of a woman in central Alberta lake town

SYLVAN LAKE, Alta. — Police say they are investigating the suspicious death of a 32-year- old woman in central Alberta.

Sylvan Lake RCMP say they responded to a 911 call about an assault at a residence in the lake town, about 20 kilometres west of Red Deer, at 8 p.m. on Sunday.

They say EMS took the woman to hospital, where she was declared dead.

The RCMP's major crimes unit has taken over the investigation into her death.

Police say officers were in the neighbourhood yesterday making inquiries.

They say an autopsy will be done to determine how she died.
