After keeping an eye out for the perfect house at the perfect price for about four years and visiting countless show homes, Bobbie Zadorozny, Micheal Power and their daughter Lacy knew they had found the home for their family when they saw The Alexander by Homes by Avi.
“We were really specific with what we wanted and the house is super close to Lacy's school and it all just kind of made sense,” Zadorozny said, adding the starting price of the home and the large lot it sits on were also factors in purchasing the home.
The family, along with Oden and Ralph – their two golden retrievers – made the short move from King’s Heights to Lanark Landing Aug. 7 and have loved their Homes by Avi duplex each day since.
Q: What made you decide to move to Lanark Landing?
A: We were already living in King's Heights and we just kind of liked that community and wanted to stay close. There's the two big ponds there and I know that Lanark's wanting to do more walking spaces and ponds, as well, so that's attractive to us.
Q: What put Homes by Avi above other builders?
A: We had meetings with multiple other builders and, just sitting down with Lenka [Kubackova, Homes by Avi area sales manager for Lanark Landing], I'd asked if we could change certain things – for example, moving lights or certain styles of railing – she was able to say yes, that's fine. She was able to give us an answer right there and then. Whereas the other builders that we went to were like, "Oh, we can send an email," or "We can inquire on that."
From the start, it was a lot easier to work with Homes by Avi.
Q: What came built-in to your home that attracted you to it?
A: We really liked the big front patio – that curbside appeal is really nice. We also love our floor plan; we have a big open floor plan. We have the galley kitchen and we entertain a lot. It has space for everyone, and we could still socialize while doing different things at the same time – I'm not off in the corner cooking dinner for everyone by myself.
Q: What makes your home unique?
A: We did quite a bit of upgrades in the house. As far as we know, other than the old show home for the other side, we're the only duplex that has the railing. We upgraded pretty much the entire house. We did railing up the stairs, wall and then along the top level; we upgraded all of our light fixtures. We upgraded the flooring, countertops, appliances, you name it.
It's going to be our home for a long time and we wanted to start with making sure the first two levels are how he wants it, and then we'll work on the rest as the years go on.
Q: How have you personalized your home inside and out?
A: We're going to put a barn door at our back door and needed to move all the light switches and it made sense to make space for future needs, as well, at our back door. Little things like that were really helpful. Homes by Avi was really great with letting us move light switches.
Q: Why would you recommend Homes by Avi?
A: I think it ties in with how easy it was to customize the home. I would ask a question I get an answer right away.
Lenka is absolutely amazing. There would be nights where we would be walking the dog down the street and looking at the house. She'd be in one of the houses nearby taking photos for the other homeowners and she’d come out going, "Hey, guys want to go into your house?" and just on a whim would just let us go and see all the progress. We had a really great relationship with her. It's just overall been a really great experience.
