Try AquaFit! It's a lot of fun, not too difficult, and you can do it wearing anything you want, even your eyeglasses. Aqua fitness is any form of activity performed in water that makes you feel good and contributes to good health. Here are some of the health benefits to be gained from trying an AquaFit class.

It’s Low Impact

This activity has all the benefits of a gym workout and also the benefits of being in the water. A workout in the water puts less stress on the joints and muscles because water supports the body while you move, making things easier. This makes it a great exercise choice for people with arthritis or mobility problems, and for people after surgery or who are just coming back to exercise.  It puts less strain on the heart while it pumps blood around the body.

AquaFit activates and builds muscles as you fight against the push of the water. Some classes use equipment like water weights or kick boards, and that helps to build muscle mass. The water also supports balance to build strength and capability against falls and injury. The impact of gravity is less in the water so the range of motion can be greater.

The Water Feels Nice

In the heat, working out in the pool helps to keep the body cool. It is more motivating to work out in a cool environment. Water is a temperature regulator and distributes the heat around the body and helps prevent overheating while exercising.

It Burns Calories

It may not feel like you are working out, and believe it or not, that is another benefit to choosing AquaFit! It feels more like fun. You can get your recommended exercise minutes in each week, have fun with your group and burn about 300 calories per hour. It is not competitive, and no one is judging your style or endurance.

The Workout Is As Intense As You Want It To Be

An AquaFit workout combines cardio and resistance. Do jumping jacks, jogging, leg lifts and arm movements to popular dance music. It is motivating and challenging, and it is a workout for any one of any age, or fitness level.  There are a lot of different exercise styles and music options with an AquaFit class, and a good instructor will offer modifications as required.

Talk to your doctor about how a workout in the water can help you. You don’t have to be a swimmer, or even put your face in the water if you don’t want to!
