Cochrane RCMP officers are investigating after a recent shooting in Rocky View County resulted in injury to a 21-year-old victim.

Cochrane RCMP officers are investigating after a recent shooting in Rocky View County resulted in injury to a 21-year-old victim.

The incident occurred at approximately 6 a.m. on July 19, according to RCMP, when officers were dispatched to the Woodland Estates area, in Bearspaw.

“Upon arrival, police located a 21-year-old-victim who had suffered a non-life-threatening injury to his lower body,” stated a press release from the detachment. “Cochrane RCMP utilized a police dog as well as the Emergency Response Team to clear the area.”

While RCMP believe there is no danger to the public, the Cochrane General Investigative Section has been dispatched to investigate. On July 21, Cpl. Troy Savinkoff with the Cochrane RCMP said the detachment does not yet have a suspect.

“No further details will be released at this time,” the release stated, adding anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Cochrane RCMP at 403-932-2211 or their local police.
