For more than 16 years, All Fitts Auto has provided the Airdrie community with automotive repairs and general vehicle maintenance checks.
On Jan 1, 2006, Brett Fitt came out from behind the wrenches, embraced life as an entrepreneur, and joined Airdrie’s growing business community.
“I wanted to have a shop where the integrity of the technician meant something,” said Fitt, the business’ owner. “I wanted to set up here in the town we called home and earn a reputation for being Airdrie’s most trusted auto mechanic shop.”
Like many who first start out, Fitt said he initially felt a bit overwhelmed as the owner versus the technician.
“I knew how to fix vehicles, but with ownership came a whole new level of responsibility,” he said, admitting there were things he “hadn’t really taken into consideration.”
“We kind of learned as we went,” he said. “Although 16 years isn’t all that long ago, we’ve seen a lot of changes.”
Fitt said there are many people the business owes a debt of gratitude to for helping All Fitts Auto along the way, from fellow business minds to loyal customers.
“As an owner, I sure appreciated the free coaching and advice,” he said. “I’d like to think over the years I’ve been able to share some of the knowledge that was gifted to me.”
While customers are easy to get, what’s important is knowing how to keep them.
“That is the first rule of our business,” Fitt said. “If your business model is built around customer retention versus having the most customers, I think you’ve set yourself up for not only a sustainable business, but most importantly, a credible business.
“The Fitt crew is a solid team of technicians that work hard and we take pride in what we do.”
Their efforts have frequently been recognized by the community in the annual Best of Airdrie Readers’ Choice Awards, and this year was no exception. All Fitts Auto is an 11-time Best of Airdrie Winner.
Fitt said he and his team take pride in receiving the Best of Airdrie Readers’ Choice Award, as it’s up to the readers to decide who deserves the accolade.
“We don’t solicit votes so when the call comes in, we are all pretty happy.” Fitt went on to say. “We are humbled and appreciative of the people who take the time to cast their votes. Airdrie has great auto repair shops, so being in the top three is awesome, and something we celebrate as a team. “
All Fitts stands out in a competitive industry by being present for the community in and out of the shop.
“We have a company tent we lend out for community events, we donate to many auctions and non-profit groups and organizations, we sponsor events, we’ve co-hosted a few fundraisers, and we keep our social media personal and fun,” Fitt said.
“As a company, we take pride in helping our community because that is how we can make a difference in so many walks of lives.”
Fitt added his company’s culture is based on supporting the community that supports them.
“We are a proud member of the 100 Men Who Give a Damn in Airdrie, we have in partnership a toy drive each year for the children’s hospital, and we proudly sponsor and support the Airdrie Oilmens Association with their events that also help our community groups,” he said.
