Woman's body found in Chestermere Lake

Chestermere RCMP officers are investigating after a woman's body was found in Chestermere Lake on May 6.

Chestermere RCMP officers are investigating after a woman's body was found in Chestermere Lake on May 6.

According to a detachment press release, RCMP received a report of a person found deceased on the south side of the lake's causeway, near the east shoreline.

"Members of Chestermere RCMP attended immediately with Chestermere Fire Services and EMS to pull the body from the lake," the press release stated. "Life-saving efforts were initiated, which were unsuccessful."

The investigation determined the deceased was a 70-year-old Chestermere woman who was last seen at 6:48 a.m. in the 600 block of Marina Drive while on her regular morning walk, according to the press release.

"The death does not appear suspicious at this time. However, Chestermere RCMP are seeking the assistance of the public to provide any information, dash cam video, residential surveillance, or sightings in order to establish the elderly woman’s movements between 6:48 a.m. and 8:15 a.m.," the release stated.

The name of the deceased woman is not being released at this time, RCMP added. She was described as being East Indian with brown eyes, and was wearing a dark blue hoodie, blue patterned pants and black shoes

The investigation is ongoing between Chestermere RCMP and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
