Kathleen Forster

May 6, 1943 to May 6, 2024

Kathy was born in England and came to Calgary in 1954 with her parents, Tom and Mary Marsden and sister Anne.

After graduating in the 1961 class from Aberhart High School she enrolled in the University of Alberta, Calgary and obtained a Standard S teaching certificate.

While attending high school she met her future husband George and after graduating from UAC she married George, taught at Branton Junior High and helped put George through school.

Kathy and George have two sons, David (Avril) and Brian (Kim). When the boys were in school Kathy indulged her long-standing love of sports by returning to university and completing a physical education degree (with distinction). She applied her skills by working with seniors through Mount Royal University and the now defunct Cochrane swimming pool.

Kathy caught husband George’s love of flying and soon had an aircraft of her own, a Cessna 140. She became well-known at Springbank airport as the owner of that 1947 silver tail-dragger. She undertook several lengthy trips in the Cessna. These trips included destinations like Toronto and Vancouver.

Kathy and George decided that they had enough of city life and in 1990 bought a farm near Cochrane, Alberta. Although the learning curve was steep the rewards were many until dementia began to take its toll.

If you wish to say goodbye to Kathy, the family encourages you to benefit a charity of your choice.
