This week’s column is about some amazing programming coming to Airdrie Public Library in May.
While we have many of the usual programs you know and love, May also just happens to be Geek Month, which means all things tech and niche will be celebrated.
Junior D&D One Shots on May 4 will feature short, one-shot adventures with the Legends for Logomancy streaming team.
This program is for ages 8-13 but children under 8 can join with a helpful adult.
While the kids are hanging out with the Legends, the adults can join Alex Finbow, owner of Renegade Arts Entertainment, as he shares the connection between graphic novels and lifelong literacy.
For teens, join us on May 4 for Let’s Start a Podcast, a hands-on program led by the Legends of Logomancy.
Participants will learn about popular streaming services and what equipment to use.
Zach Shuster, the creator of the board game Wizlords in the month of will be in the library on May 11 for a demo of this new game.
Zach will also be presenting a comic book and art workshop called Comic Art 101 earlier in the day.
Robo Rally, a series on coding, will run Tuesdays throughout May, and is open to ages 8 and above.
Board Game Day on May 18 features Roxley Games designer Adam Wise, who will bring some classic games and will introduce Roxley’s newest game, Skyrise.
The Miniature Paint Club runs through May and part of June and is an activity the whole family can enjoy.
Local artist Jaret Hartnell will be in the library on May 25 for a presentation on comic art and composition.
Of course, there’s a lot more going on than just the geek stuff.
